What's Next For Egypt?

The answer to the question "What's Next for Egypt? has not only captured the attention of every Egyptian but the rest of the world as both factions wait to see how the outcome of hosni mubarak gone will play out in regard to future elections with respect to the proposed election timing coupled with a plethora of questions surrounding the overall initial formulation of government. One looming question in the minds of many is whether or not a true revolution has taken place as opposed to an uprising. Arab Spring maintains an outcry from the people has been heard with their demands for power of the people versus power of those in power. In the minds of many, this will not happen unless the newly elected parliament and political factions can learn to work together for the common good. egypt Many feel elections held in 2012 rather than 2013 would result in a win for the Muslim faction since as Shakespeare said "there is a destiny that makes us rather cling to that we know than fly to that we know not of.? There is an overall fear that people will prefer the establishment versus the opportunity afforded by having time to understand and evaluate how position on various issues will affect Egypt's future. One issue of paramount importance is whether a constitution should be drawn and formally adopted before or after a presidential election takes place. All indications are the Muslim Brotherhood favors election before constitution formulation for protection of certain militia factions from possible prosecution once power is transferred. Those favoring constitutional formulation first site the need for a multitude of issues to be resolved and safeguards to firmly in place prior to the onset of election campaigns. Of concern is the effect of the issue of church and state for non-Muslims and the Christian coalition. With regard to the rights and dignity of women, since casting votes for members of parliament they appear to have been relegated to adherence to strict Muslim dress code. Another looming question surrounds the presence of pro-Mubarak membership in the newly elected parliament.
